RANCHO SANTA FE
Three Equestrian Communities     Rancho Riding Club

Rancho Santa Fe is a highly desirous up-scale equestrian area. This unincorporated Community is located about five miles inland from the Pacific Ocean in northern San Diego County, and just 20 miles north of Downtown San Diego. Rancho Santa Fe consists of some 35 identifiable communities, (of which 3 are zoned for horses with trails and stables.) These elegant communities surround the Village of Rancho Santa Fe, which is referred to as the “Covenant”, the original Rancho Santa Fe which was subdivided in the 1920's. All other communities are of more recent vintage.

There are winding rural roadways, rolling eucalyptus-covered hills, green pastures and citrus groves. The Community has been able to preserve so much of its rural ambiance and historic architectural character due to its unique system of governance and the steadfast commitment of Covenant residents. Under the authority of the Protective Covenant, the Rancho Santa Fe Association has successfully adapted to changing conditions while preserving the fundamental goals established in the 1920's, and will continue to maintain them for future generations.

Rancho Riding Club

The Rancho Riding Club was founded in 1946 and occupies 11 acres in the heart of Rancho Santa Fe. This beautiful, private facility is located on Rambla de las Flores, south of La Granada.
The Rancho Riding Club offers large box stalls, outside corrals, three turnouts, hot water wash racks, cross ties, 6-horse free flow exerciser and three rings. In addition, Association members and their guests have access to miles of trails located throughout the Covenant. Horses are fed hay three times a day, and staff provides daily stall and ring maintenance. Priority is afforded to Association members.
Rancho Riding Club is home to Westwood at Rancho Riding Club, with Phillip Cillis and Marcy Gehrke, Marion Hadden and Caldwell Dressage Instruction and Robin Bond, Western Trainer. The entire family is invited to attend horse shows, social activities, and instructors are available to give lessons to children and adults on wonderful schooling horses in a variety of disciplines. This active riding club has wonderful assets for horse and rider!

Award-Winning Schools

Santa Fe Elementary and Middle Schools, covering grades K through 8. Communities generally to the south of the Covenant are part of the Solana Santa Fe School District with Solana Santa Fe Elementary School (K-6) and Earl Warren Junior High School. Torrey Pines High School serves students from both districts. In addition, there are fine private schools located nearby.

Based upon the statewide-administered Stanford Achievement Test - 9th Edition, as of July, 2001, all public schools in the Rancho Santa Fe area ranked very high both statewide and nationally. This high ranking of the school systems is a very important reason many homebuyers choose to reside in the Rancho Santa Fe area. A booklet providing more complete information on schools and Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) results is available upon request
